About Therapy

Psychotherapy provides a safe space to emotionally explore one’s life, both conscious and unconscious, difficulties and creative resources. Psychotherapy can help people with a number of problems including, but not limited to, depression, worthlessness, low self esteem and feelings of being stuck, anxiety, the aftermath of a difficult experience, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, workplace difficulties and the effects of childhood abuse or neglect in adulthood. I work from a psychoanalytic perspective with an attachment–based focus. My work brings together a focus on your internal world and unconscious processes, which helps you gain insight and understanding, as well as dedicated attention to the quality of the relationship between me and my client. By providing this secure base, clients have the opportunity to share experiences and feelings they may not have been able to talk about before. A secure, therapeutic relationship makes it possible for people to explore the impact of important relationships and mourn past losses – so that healing of early experiences of misattunement, separation and trauma can take place. I have a passion for my work; helping my clients make these longed-for changes. In developing greater self understanding and self acceptance, and crucially, letting go of negative, self-punishing thoughts and behaviours, the freedom to reach their full potential becomes possible.
